The Political History Department is a unit of Vadym Hetman Kyiv National Economic University specialised in the research into historical and political problems of the development of the Ukrainian society from the ancient times till modernity in the dimension of the European civilisation process, the international and interstate relations.

The staff of the Department supports the teaching process at all faculties of the University in the core bachelor-level discipline of History of the Ukrainian Society and selective bachelor-level disciplines of History of the European Civilisation and the History of International Relations and Foreign Policy in 20th and early 21st Centuries.
The Department is focused on the large volume of the research, educational methodology and upbringing work. The Department maintains and develops scientific and organisational relations with other units of the University, as well as with educational and research centres of Ukraine, such as: the History Faculty of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University, the Ukraine History Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Institute of European Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Yury Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, Petro Mohyla Black Sea State University.
